The Republic of Cyprus joined the European Union on the 1st May 2004. This has resulted in changes which have made the buying process much easier for EU nationals.
Certain restrictions have been lifted so as to promote the free movement of goods and people on the island. With the lifting of Exchange control restrictions it is no longer required to prove that external funds were used to purchase property in Cyprus. The island has a Liberal Investment policy allowing for full foreign participation in all aspects of the economy, for EU nationals as well as investors from third countries
The buying process in Cyprus is simple and very safe as long as the correct legal process is followed. Although we have a short list of recommended, trusted, reliable and independent lawyers, as a client you have the choice of using any lawyer you may prefer. With the assistance of your lawyer and our after sales team, property purchases can even be made from abroad without the need for you to be in Cyprus. All that is required is the granting of a power of attorney to your lawyer. All legal and supplementary work can be carried out by them, with written instruction from you of course.
